Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned...especially a dead one holding a grudge.
Back on Deadwood's list of usual suspects, Violet Parker is hip deep in wild frights and fired-up females. After juggling bitter threats, haunted buildings, and vengeful ghosts, the last thing she needs is a pair of bullheaded detectives trying to pin another murder on her tail.
Can Violet find the real killer before she ends up behind bars? Or worse, on a slab at the morgue.

Seriously folks, do not eat or drink anything while reading this book. I almost died twice because of this. The funny parts just kind of sneak up on you.The Deadwood crew are back and are just as funny and entertaining as ever. The situations poor Violet finds herself in many times are hilarious as well as heart poundingly frightening. This book has an excellent mix of mystery, action, steam and wit as with all of the others in this series. If ever asked, I don't think I could pick a favorite part because there are so many. I mean any time Cornelius is on the scene, when Violet and Cooper (or even Hawke) are at each other's throat, when old man Harvey just opens his mouth to speak, all of these are parts are entertaining and often hilarious. And let's not forget the sizzling chemistry between Violet and Doc.
Many questions were answered, but many more have come to light. Ann Charles states at the end of this book that this series will run for quite some time and I cannot begin to explain how happy this makes me. Well done Ms. Charles! I will be anxiously awaiting the next book!

A Wild Fright in Deadwood (Audible Audio Edition) Ann Charles Caroline Shaffer Inc Blackstone Audio Books Reviews
Enjoyable humorous mystery series with a supernatural twist. I do have to wonder how this poor girl makes it through her life with all the unusual characters she encounters and has to deal with including, but not limited to, a sister who tries to steal all her boyfriends, an ex-boyfriend and father of her twins who is a complete jerk, and a horrible co-worker who needs to be gagged. Luckily she also has a great and very supportive boyfriend, an aunt who has taken her in and is a great advisor, and a host of wonderful friends who dearly love and care for her. The series is made more fun being set in the colorful Black Hills in real towns that can be visited. Just an overall fun series for those times when lighter fare is what you're looking for.
Ann Charles does it again! "A Wild Fright In Deadwood" is the 7th book in her Deadwood Series, a series that is full of mystery, ghosts, the paranormal, suspense, romance and laugh out loud fun! This book will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. Real Estate Agent Violet Parker is doing more than selling houses. There is something going on in Deadwood, South Dakota and Violet is at the center of the ghostly activities taking place not only in Deadwood, but also Lead. Pick up this book, better yet, pick up the whole series, you won't be able to put the books down until
you've read them all. Violet Parker and her purple cowboy boots are going to walk right into your heart...
I love the book. The characters are easily liked and easy to relate to. I love the messes Violet gets into. These books are one of the best series ever written.
Doc, Nat, Harvey and especially Coop are fantastic characters. I highly recommend these books to anyone. The conversations and teasing are spectacular. The barbs traded between Coop and Violet are wonderful. I love the snarky exchanges and attitudes. It really makes the book fantastic.
I loved the book so much, I read it in one sitting, now I have to wait for book 8. Can you hurry and write the next book please?
You will really enjoy Violet and her entourage. They are the best. Waiting.......for book 8!!
Another great installment in the Deadwood series. The Good, the bad, and the ugly tribute was hilarious! I like that Violet seems to finally be growing as a person and not rushing into things without thinking. Oh don't worry there is still plenty of hijinx and attitude. In other words these books seem to be getting better. Definitely not the same stuff different day rut some book series get in. You will love how Natalie torments Rex!, it's way better than just beating the crap out of him.So if you have been following the series, clear your calendar and start reading. If you haven't been reading well clear your week and start at the beginning. The books really do build on each other.
I kind of feel sorry for Violet. I mean, she gets blamed for A LOT of things that she ultimately has no control over. Like the dead people who keep popping up around town.
It isn't her fault she stumbles over them with alarming regularity.
Well, wait. Maybe it kind of is her fault. I mean, she does go chasing trouble more often than not. Which I get because she's pathologically unable to walk away from something when it puts others in danger and her bloodline makes her better suited than most to hunt these baddies down, BUT STILL! Poor Violet gets blamed for a lot of things.
That said, she is assembling a solid team of people who have her back. A solid team who have skills that complement hers, even. She might be (slowly) learning the ins and outs of her heritage, but she's getting the job done. Mostly.
Anyway.. Violet, Doc, and the crew have their work cut out for them as they move deeper into the gritty world of ghosts, demons, and the creepers who want to set the world on fire. Metaphorically. Those guys are kind of jerks, but they're still not as jerky as Violet's ex. Which says a lot, doesn't it?

I have read all the books in this series but I find it is starting to wear a bit thin. After a while, the theme of aggressive ghosts and Violet's battles with them becomes somewhat repetitive. Similarly her battles with Coop the sheriff have become worn and the "banter" simply becomes rather mean (Violet is always miserable to him and that doesn't reflect well on her after a while). At least she and Doc FINALLY admit their affection for one another. Frankly, I hope Ann goes back to writing more books about Jack Rabbit junction. This series is close to running its course.
