Branded Fall of Angels Book 1 edition by Keary Taylor Paranormal Romance eBooks

To be fair, I want to tell you from the get go that I did not finish this book. The author's writing style was something I really struggled with and it made me not care how good the idea of the story was or what is going to happen to the very unlikable "heroine".
The book consists of so many unnecessary exchanges and scenes. For example when Jessica finds Sal sleeping in the bathtub, only to find out that she forgot to turn the oven on for the lasagna. Why this was important to the story baffles me. On the other hand I found the author running through scenes that could have really added to the story. Like the part where her boyfriend breaks up with her. He just says: "I can't handle this anymore! It's just not normal. They aren't real". No sign of trouble in the entire 6 months of true love and than BAM..this is how it ends.

Miss Taylor also seems not to know when it is appropriate to "chuckle" or "giggle". Alex offers to make Thai food and that resonated a chuckle. What in God's name is so funny about Thai food and why is Jessica so astonished he can cook. She doesn't even know the man.
Another word Miss Taylor seems not to know when to throw in is "stupidly". Jessica "stupidly" says Hi and then when Alex hands her the soy sauce she "stupidly" says Thanks.
I don't know about you, but I find it totally NOT stupid to say thanks or hi. I wish the author knew when to throw in the occasional chuckle or stupidly, because she not only uses these words in the wrong context, but also way too much.

In this book people seem to know each other in and out within hours of meeting. Jessica and Alex go over to Sal's to watch TV and even though nobody utters a word Alex comes to the conclusion that Sal is an awesome person.

This is where I throw in the towel. I am very happy that I paid nothing for the book and that it is so easy to delete something on my kindle. I have 4 children and a very busy life with running a dog rescue and all the life stock we have. My time is precious and I don't have any of it to waste "stupidly".

Branded Fall of Angels Book 1 edition by Keary Taylor Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews

Jessica doesn’t sleep. Or at least she tries not to. Because when she sleeps, she’s plagued with nightmares of angels, trials and brands. The nightmares have already cost Jessica her family and now she lives a quiet, solitary life as a caretaker. When her employers are killed in an accident, grandson Alex arrives to take over his inheritance and Jessica finds herself falling in love with the handsome, caring young man. Their peace is shattered, however, with the arrival of another, dangerous man and Jessica soon finds that there’s much more to her dreams than she thought.

What a wonderful premise for a story! I love the idea of angels and dreams. Unfortunately, I found it quite difficult to get into this novel. There were a few times I considered giving up because the plot pace just seemed so slow and included many scenes that didn’t appear to move the characters or the plot forward. There were some word repetitions that became grating as the novel progressed and the characters were a little too superficial and cliched to really fall in love with.

That said, it was still entertaining enough to finish. The ending improved my opinion as it included some action and resolution, but sadly, I’m not enthralled enough to continue the series.
This book was pretty good. Interesting story, strong characters. The second book is not good. The strong female character turns into a needy, whinny, clingy woman. The whole book is just her acting like a spoiled brat because Alex won't marry her and his logic is flawed, why would he not marry her if their time together is so short? It's stupid. And it really bothered me that Emily's Birthday turned into Jessica's Birthday mid-Birthday. Despite pretty much hating the second book I continued on to book three. It is better than book two. The characters get back to being how they were in book one and the story is tied up and finished at the end. I think these books are good for young teens (11-14) as there is no sex and no bad language.
I just finished this book. I had not read the reviews and glad I didn’t. Honestly I am shocked and offended by some of the 1-2 star reviews.

I thought this book was extremely unique and different. I pretty much only read paranormal books and in over 30 years I’ve not come across one with this unique story.

Jessica is a young lady struggling in life with nightmares that affect her intensely that she is unable to have a normal life. Then her life is changed by meeting Alex, Emily and Cole. Each have a meaningful part in her life.

The story is told from Jessica’s point of view so all the characters and dialogue are one sided. I found this lacked some character development for the others but it is a story told by Jessica so her POV is how it is understood. I still think it is s great book and fantastic read. It is rated G. ).
