Rock Star Rockers of Storm Crow Book 1 edition by Roslyn Hardy Holcomb Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I really enjoyed the story of Callie and Bryan. Since I do live in a small town in Georgia, I was impressed with the detail in the description of Maple Fork, Alabama. Callie is a bookstore owner in this town who meets a Bryan Spencer, whom is lead singer of a band called Storm Crowe. He is there to heal from the recent death of a friend, Brodie, and the dangerous lifestlye that could have ended his own. Callie is at first is in total denial of the growing attraction she is having for Bryan, but soon comes face to face with it in her parent's kitchen. Each has to confront their own demons and life, for the relationship to come together.
The book was a great read that had me up reading it late a few nights. Mrs. Holcomb, you described perfectly the Auburn-Alabama game fans! I live on the boarder of AL and we get an overflow of the game's activities. A masterpiece that I will enjoy reading again. I would have gave it 5 stars, but the curse word "gd" I did not agree with. It could have been left out and still been a great book.
ROLL TIDE!!!
Honestly, Callie pissed me off for most of the book. I am not quite sure why Bryan fell in love with her or even why he remained that way. She didn't really seem to have much of a personality. I think her treatment of Bryan was unfair...he was really the only saving grace to this book. I liked him. But, I seriously doubt that most men would have put up with the hot and cold treatment for long.
I'd like to add, that I was picturing Peter Steele (before the drugs and alcohol ravaged his looks) as Bryan...sigh )
One of the best interracial romances that I have read so far . It was true to life with the emotions and what not. I found that most interracial romances that I have read have been borderline if not fully pornographic with no plot beyond setting up random unbelievable scenes for sex . With rock star that was not the case. The black women was not objectified as a sexual object and sprinkled with a marriage proposal and a declaration of love after 250 pages of being intimated and dominated. If you want a good story I suggest this book.
I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good romance. I can't believe this is the first for this author, must keep her on my must read because if this is what she can accomplish the first time - wow! Callie and Bryan were all kinds of hot and the chemistry was perfect right from the start. I loved that they took their time getting to the physical stuff, they just felt solid, especially Bryan. I gave a 4 instead of a 5 because, Callie was at times entirely too immature, she was far too old to be so concerned with what others thought of her. I did like that the author gave a reason for this and didn't just left Callie to remain unaware of this defect. Still it was annoying regardless of why she was like that because it took just a little of the enjoyment away for me. But get the book it's a great read, once I started I couldn't put it down. Bryan is seriously one of the sexiest guys I've ever read about, the author really brought this character to life.
This was a well written novel. Bryan and Callie were such a contrast as lovers and their vast differences in background and lifestyle made for a most interesting and entertaining story. Generally in a story like this, you have the baddass alpha male versus the small time naive small time girl. Not here, both characters had strengths and vulnerabilities which made their attraction to and discovery of each other captivating.
Unlike many IR novels, this one dealt with racism head on, both subtle and over. The couple had to deal with betrayal and sabatoge and their pain and reactions to numerous emotional assaults were vivid.
The sensual parts of this book were magical and beautiful. Many writers go into overkill sexually to compensate for an underdeveloped story. Not here. The love and romance between Bryan and Callie were beautifully cutivated. This was a great story, I hope to see many more from Ms. Holcomb.
And I mean finally in two ways... Finally I read this book, it took me forever to and finally she made a darn decision. Loved the book but her uncertainty started to wear very very this.i loved the story...his intensity ..and most of all...his hair!!!
Ms. Holcomb's freshman romance novel was a breath of not only fresh air but fresh ideas. It claims to a creative mind that I hope keeps up the good work.
When Bryan Spencer sees Callie, it's love at first sight for him. He knows that this is the woman for him, but getting her to realize that means he has to step up his game. Bryan isn't used to the sweet, and calm small town women. He's a rock star who is used to having people do everything for him. He's used to women throwing themselves at him, but Callie doesn't want anything to do with him. At least she tries to act like she doesn't. Bryan is on a mission to court her the old fashioned way and keep himself in her line of vision until she understands that he's not going anywhere. Callie on the other hand isn't so sure she should indulge in an affair with this celebrity. She's from a small town where everyone knows everyone and gossip is the entertainment of a few. She often wonders why Bryan even wants anything to do with her. She has no intention of being another notch on his bedpost.
Eventually Callie takes a chance and goes with her heart, but when she's thrust into the spotlight her reaction leaves Bryan right back at square one and Callie is ready to say forget it no matter how much she wants Bryan.
Ms. Holcomb did a great job maintaining the characters in a direction that was striaght from beginning to end. The characters were well developed. The secondary characters were intertwined with the main ones just enough to aid in the support of the story line. I look forward to reading her next work.
